The Giving Department

The context

The Giving Department has supported the Columbia Threadneedle Foundation since its launch in 2013, through a blend of strategic support and impact measurement across its three core themes: education and training, sport, and art. The foundation forms long-term partnerships to support individual lives and help drive social change, through both core funding and volunteering.

The challenge

Support a focused, innovative corporate-linked foundation across all aspects of its programme, especially its work in the arts.

What we did

Through ongoing impact analysis, governance insight and strategic thinking, our support includes:

  • Clean Break: supporting a long-term partnership with a women's theatre company working with women in prison or with experience of the criminal justice system
  • AT The Bus: guidance on theory of change, governance and impact measurement for a charity supporting the mental health of 5-18 year olds, which the foundation helped found
  • The National Gallery 'Take One Picture': impact measurement and inclusion strategy since 2018 for a programme putting art at the centre of primary school learning
  • Swindon Children's Scrapstore: governance and impact guidance for a community charity providing low-cost, environmentally friendly resources for children
Since 2013
supporting the foundation
The Giving Department is supporting The Columbia Threadneedle Foundation during a critical stage in our development and has ensured we have discovered truly innovative, impactful and well-run charities to partner with over the coming years.
