  • When we research organisations for clients: publicly available information about organisations and their leaders, such as Trustees and senior staff, from sources like the Charity Commission, Companies House and organisations' own websites.
  • When you visit this website: limited technical information, as described below and on our Cookies page.

How and why we use it

  • To reply to your enquiry and talk to you about how we can help - because it's in our legitimate interest to respond to people who contact us.
  • To deliver our work for clients - because it's necessary for our contract with you or your organisation, or in our legitimate interest where the contract is with your organisation.
  • To research and assess potential partner organisations for our clients - because it's in our and our clients' legitimate interest to make well-informed decisions.
  • To meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations.
  • To understand how our website is used, so we can improve it - only if you accept analytics cookies (see "Website analytics" below).
  • To send you occasional updates or invitations - only where you have agreed, or where you're an existing contact and haven't opted out. You can unsubscribe at any time.

We don't sell your information, and we don't use it for automated decision-making or profiling.

Website analytics

If you accept analytics cookies, we use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used - for example which pages are visited and how people find us. Google processes this information on our behalf. Google Analytics doesn't tell us who you are. We keep this data for 2 months. You can change your choice at any time using the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page.

Who we share it with

  • Service providers who help us run our business, such as our email, IT and website hosting providers, and Google Analytics if you accept analytics cookies. They only use your information to provide their services to us.
  • Associates working with us on a specific project, under confidentiality obligations.
  • Our clients, where we share research or assessment findings as part of a project.
  • Professional advisers, or authorities where the law requires it.

Some of our providers may store or process information outside the UK. Where they do, we make sure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as UK adequacy regulations or approved contract terms.

How long we keep it

  • Enquiries that don't lead to work: up to two years.
  • Client and project records: six years from the end of the financial year in which the work ends, to meet legal and accounting requirements.
  • Research on organisations: for the length of the project and two years afterwards.
  • Website analytics: 2 months.
